Rob Frost Photography,

Liskeard church is dedicated to St Martin of Tours.

St Martin was born in AD 316 and died in AD 397. His father was a senior officer in the Roman army and Martin also became a Roman soldier. It was during this time that he experienced a vision He was with his soldiers when he met a scantily dressed beggar at the city gates. Filled with pity he cut his own cloak in half and gave one half to the beggar. That same night he dreamed that Jesus returned and restored to him the other half of his cloak. When he awoke his cloak was restored.

St Martin's church is situated just off the Plymouth Road, which you can see here looping across the bottom left hand corner of the photo.

Church halls

St Martin's Church Centre comprises the Upper and Lower Church Halls. Leaving the church (No. 1 on the photo) by the south door, walk down the path, down the steps and turn right. The Upper Church Hall is right in front of you (No. 2 on the photo). The Lower Church Hall (No. 3 on the photo) lies behind the Upper Hall. Many of the Church activities take place in these halls.

Liskeard Business Park

Liskeard Business Park lies just off Charter Way, the eastern relief road linking the A38 to the A390 to Callington and Tavistock.

In the photo the business park is on the left, with Oak Tree doctors surgery and Vospers garage at the bottom of the picture.

Liskeard Community Hospital

The road on the left of the picture is the A390 from Callington. Travelling towards Liskeard (downwards on the picture) is Hendra Park.

The large building below it is the hospital. Continuing down the left hand side of the photo, the Liskeard Dental Centre is just below the large white building. Below and to the right is the Respite Care Centre.

The large blue building next door to the respite centre is Vospers, the Ford dealership, and across the road is the Oak Tree doctors surgery.

Morrisons sits in the centre of this photo, just of the A38, which swings past south of Liskeard. Liskeard's Homebase and Argos are in the bottom left of the corner.

The field in the top right of the photo is the playing field of St Martin's school.

St Martin's school

From the A38 follow the signposts to the town centre. Turn right into Briarwood, up the short hill and follow the road round to the left. Turn right after a couple of hundred yards and the school is ahead of you.

In the photo you can see the school field on the right hand side, with the school to the left of it.
